The United States has had forty-three Presidents. You may be able to name all of the presidents, but how much do you really know about them? In this article, you will find out some presidential trivia you probably never knew.
George Washington is the source of some interesting presidential trivia. He was our first president, but he never lived in the White House. His presidency ended in 1797, he died in 1799, and the White House construction was not finished until 1800. Many people think he had dentures made of wood, but they were actually made of animal bone, lead, and ivory.
Abraham Lincoln, nicknamed Honest Abe, was our 16th president and one of the most famous. He was born in the state of Kentucky. He didn’t have a middle name, but his first name came from his paternal grandfather. He was elected in 1861 and was our first president to sport a beard. Did you know that Lincoln gave his famous Gettysburg Address in 1863? You may know John Wilkes Booth assassinated Abraham Lincoln, but do you know where? It was in the Ford’s Theatre that Booth shot the President.
John Kennedy was another president for whom there is a lot of presidential trivia. Did you know President Kennedy’s right leg was ¾ of an inch longer than his left leg? He graduated from Harvard in 1940 with a science degree. Do you know whom President Kennedy defeated to get into office? It was Richard M. Nixon, who would go on to become our 37th president. Who was the name of the Attorney-General during the Kennedy Administration? It was Robert Kennedy, the president’s brother, who would be assassinated while campaigning for the Democrat nomination for President. After President Kennedy was shot in Dallas, to what hospital was he rushed? The president was taken to the Parkland Memorial Hospital.
