Ice Cream Trivia
You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream, so the saying goes.
But do you scream for ice cream trivia? Do you know what three flavors are
included in Neapolitan ice cream? That ice cream consists of strips of chocolate,
vanilla, and strawberry. Did you know the largest sundae was twelve feet
tall? It was made in Anaheim, California and was made with over 4,500 pounds
of ice cream and 7,000 pounds of toppings! There is an International Ice
Cream Association (IICA) and they say it can take up to 50 licks to finish
one cone of ice cream. What two countries eat the most ice cream after the
United States? According to the IICA, it is New Zealand in second place
and Denmark in third. We have California to thank for producing the most
ice cream of any state each year.
Are you ready for some ice cream trivia about the companies that make it?
Do you know whose slogan is “We eat all we can and sell the rest?” Blue
Bell is the company that uses that slogan. We do not normally think of ice
cream in slices. But one company uses the logo “One piece is never
enough.” That is Vienetta, the sliceable ice cream. Do you know what
company offers a Grateful Dead flavor of ice cream called Cherry Garcia?
That is manufacturers Ben & Jerry’s.
Ben & Jerry’s ice cream is the source of much ice cream trivia.
Did you know it started out in a gas station in 1978? Their Fudge Central
flavor is a yummy fudge core surrounded by chocolate and vanilla ice cream
with white and dark chocolate chips. What flavor was created in honor of
Dave Matthews? That would be the One Sweet Whirled flavor. Jerry’s
favorite flavor is Jerry’s Jubilee, a combination of Cherry Garcia
and Chocolate Fudge Brownie.
